Here Are Some Games You Can Play

in Your Leisure; in Your Solitude or in Fellow Communion

Beginning Geomancy

"Who said what to whom? Who is Who and Who Is Whom?

We are digging into the joyful work of paring down, clarifying; sorting, repurposing, discarging and if discard deciding if to sell or give away or putting them on the sidewalk; and if give away how? All of that kind of process.

We switched out a sturdier shelf for the outdoor shoe rack and these pairs landed this way for a moment in the process.

And I started making up stories. The stories turned into this game. Maybe I will just call it the Shoe Game, or Who in the Shoe.

[In actuality, these shoes all belong to the same cisgendered woman of a certain age. As I started giving the shoes a different story I loved seeing how deep are my own gender assumptions, but at least quickly recognizing them for what they are.]

My first question assumed a guy in the boots and a gal in the heels as I asked, is he (boots) initiating, advancing? How is she (heels) responding? Accepting, retreating?

Or is it the other way round. Is she initiating, making moves on him.

Why, interjected Karen, are you assuming it is not a man in the heels? As well men in both or women in both.

How many different gender assignment combinations can you come up with.

What if neither one of them initiated, their meeting was stochastic?

Branching questions:

If stochastic what is the setting? Is it a social setting or an isolated pair? Does either know the other? If new does it go anywhere? What are each looking at? What's the titre and mix of attraction and repulsion?

Questions can go on and on.

If played in a small group one player could challenge another to

(things get complicated in my brain if there are more pairs of shoes. Three might be fruitful to think further about. Gives opportunity for one to be a witness. Maybe as people attain some skill level. The game could have seven phases.

I see many directions this game could go. Different pairs of shoe encounters. Different styles of shoes. Send me your shoe pics, with or without your own questions and stories and publish if congruent with the game.

I am picturing ways to formalize somewhat, like a card game.

Cards with pictures of pairs of shoes.

Maybe a die to cast to select the number of cards to take. This makes the game eligible to be as well an oracle.

Then there could be question cards. Here are some of the questions and some of the initial assumptions that occurred to us, to Karen and me.

There can be a children's bedtime story game. Basic unit story blocks that can be a complete very short story or worked together to make long and wandering continuous stories.

It can take into account the character of the child or children, and the adult(s). Do all want pretty pink and blue fairy tale or tending more toward the grim parts of the spectra.

Special sets of questions can be developed and organized.

Something to determine if you take a question from the game or propose your own question.

The vision is for Ongoingness; Life continuing on . . . .

Changing the Conversation

I was born. I am always a vessel for something other than myself. The self is only a

vehicle for Foreign matter which comes from elsewhere and is destined to go on

elsewhere without me, whether it's words, smells, vision                                                      ––EMANUELE COCCIA  Metamorphoses

The Story Teller

Now, more than ever . . . our place in the universe and the place of the universe in us, is proving to be one of active relationship. That is more than a scientist's credo. The separateness of our lives is a sham. Physics, mathematics, music, painting, my love for you, my work, the star-dust of my body, the spirit that impels it, my politics,  clocks diurnal, time perpetual, the roll, rough, tender, swamping, liberating, breathing, moving, thinking nature, human nature and the cosmos are patterned together.

Yes, there is beauty

There is love

There is joy.

All you who suffer from

the world's miseries

Defend them.
