Wear comfortable clothing. During the class we will remain clothed, as appropriate to social convention and the vagaries of the environment.
There will be light interpersonal physical contact (touching) between participants. Your comfort level with this will be respected. You may ask for ‘no touch’ and be welcomed.
Covid risk will be evaluated.
If words like magic, medicine, healing cause you concern, even alarm you, you are not alone. Same thing happens to me.
The words ‘magic’ and ‘medicine’ have so many versions and many ways of mixing together like witch doctor and medicine man or woman.
I write it as magic* so I may be specific in my meaning. There are so many spellings seen today, magick, magik, majik, majique,
Magic* is linked to the imaginative function and an expression of deep-play.
Magic* is embed in transition zones where boundaries are a space of blending, where we mix together. A boundary is not a bright line of separation.
This magic* is not spiritualism, occultism, nor any ism I know.
This magic* is the simple knowing there are many ways to tell the Story of the multiverse
How do you measure the truth value of a story? Who owns the story you are using to tell your story with?
Giving the same treatment to medicine* is also tricky. I use it in a broad sense as technologies to aid in healing. There is always the serpent coiled around the staff because magic is always a part. I could capitalize Medicine to mean Western, or Scientific Medicine. Similar to Catholic and catholic. Scientific Medicine seeks to weed out as many vestiges of magic that it can, sees religion and magic as much the same thing.
The Chapman's Reflex Network does not exist in any Anatomy and Physiology text I have found and I have searched many. Thus from the viewpoint of Scientific Medicine they don't exist.
Chapman's Reflex points are thin on dusty shelf of the osteopathy library. Most recently the Internet has become abloom with Champan's Reflex charts and diagrams and explanations. But the Chapman's Reflex Network does not exist even in this literature.
The CRN wavers in the boundary of being with not being.
ssBut there is justification in some Scientific lit. Damasio (neurologist) insists there must be such a layer of network because that's the only way bodies can do so much of what bodies do.
We will learn where these points are to be found and what they feel like on both sides of the feeling. How do you feel when you contact one, how does it feel to have one contacted.
We will experience from both sides what it feels like to reset the tensions in this net.
Laws of reciprocity do not get represented in the standard model of CRP because we engage without resistance. Thoughts and feelings are resistance.
In some anthropological literature this kind of medicine is sometimes called psychosomatic medicine. This is to suggest there is a psychological theory that can be applied to put magic* in its place, psychology being of the domain of Science.
Erwin Schroedinger considered it important to note that all the laws of physics are probabilistic. This is the physicist best known in the popular mind as the guy with dead/alive cat. He wrote this in a famous book, What Is Life.
Magic* asks if probability can be hacked. Luck be a lady.
